We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance to ensure accurate and timely financial management for our organization.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Pay Rate: $45/hr.

Position Overview

The Accountant will support PepsiCo’s financial operations by preparing and reviewing journal entries, ensuring compliance with GAAP and corporate policies, executing project accounting activities, and supporting accurate period-close reporting. This role partners closely with vendors, Finance Managers, and Project Managers to provide accounting guidance and ensure effective financial governance across capital and expense spending.

Key Responsibilities

Month-End Close & Journal Entries

• Review, prepare, and process period journal entries (e.g., cross charges, prepaid amortizations, accruals, leases).
• Perform financial statement analysis and queries for period close.
• Manage labor accrual processes for vendors and upload accurate period entries.

Compliance & Controls

• Ensure all capital and expense spending complies with GAAP and PepsiCo financial policies.
• Perform project-related SOX controls related to Capital Spend and Prepaid Expenses.
• Validate, approve, and release projects for spending during Out of Cycle (OOC) and Annual Operating Plan (AOP) cycles.

Vendor & Stakeholder Support

• Resolve issues with vendors, Finance Managers, and Project Managers.
• Submit vendor invoices for contract labor to Accounts Payable.
• Provide accounting guidance throughout project life cycles, including review of expenses, capital spend, and contracts.

Project & Reporting Activities

• Prepare project accounting analytics for the Period Operation Review Report.
• Complete ad hoc projects, reconciliations, and financial analysis as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related business field.
• 2+ years of relevant accounting or financial experience.
• Strong ability to understand, reconcile, and analyze financial data.
• Strong independent judgment and decision-making skills.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to provide insights to cross-functional teams.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

• SAP FICO and Project Systems experience.
• Knowledge of SOP 98-1 (Capitalization/Amortization of Software & Cloud Computing Arrangements).
• Familiarity with PepsiCo business processes.
• Experience using SAP Ledger and Business Warehouse (BW) for analytics.
• CPA certification or CPA candidate preferred.
