Job Description

The Accounts Payable (AP) Manager will oversee the accounts payable function for ensuring timely and accurate payment processing while maintaining compliance with organizational policies, healthcare regulations, and industry best practices. This role involves managing a team, implementing process improvements, and collaborating with other departments to support the financial health and operational efficiency of the organization.



Accounts Payable Manager Responsibilities

• Supervise, mentor, and develop the AP team, providing guidance on priorities and goals
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the AP function, ensuring workload is distributed efficiently
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide training to staff to enhance skills and knowledge

• Manage the end-to-end accounts payable process, including invoice processing, vendor payments, and expense reimbursements
• Ensure compliance with healthcare industry standards, organizational policies, and government regulations (e.g., HIPAA, SOX)
• Monitor and maintain accurate records of vendor accounts, reconciliations, and aging reports
• Review and approve invoices, payment runs, and adjustments as necessary

• Identify opportunities for automation and process efficiencies within the AP function
• Implement and maintain AP systems and tools to optimize performance and reduce manual efforts
• Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the AP team

• Act as the primary point of contact for vendors regarding payment inquiries and dispute resolution
• Partner with the procurement team to ensure proper approvals and compliance with contracts
• Collaborate with finance leadership to support month-end and year-end closing processes, including accruals and reporting

• Ensure adherence to internal controls and support audit requests as required
• Prepare and analyze AP metrics, providing insights and recommendations for improvement
• Stay updated on healthcare regulations and financial practices to ensure organizational compliance

Accounts Payable Manager Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years of accounts payable experience, including 2+ years in a managerial role
• Prior experience in the healthcare industry is strongly preferred

• Strong knowledge of accounts payable processes, systems, and best practices
• Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, PeopleSoft, SAP) and healthcare-specific software
• Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage cross-functional relationships
• Analytical mindset with a focus on process improvement and problem-solving
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.)
