Owned and operated by industry veterans Robert Ahlers and Christy Ogletree Ahlers, the gallery offers a comprehensive array of auction services and a variety of bidding experiences both in-person and online.

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Auction Cataloguer to research, accurately describe, and place values on a wide range of items, including antique furniture, fine art, silver, decorative arts, and estate collections. • Conduct pricing and value research using auction databases, scholarly resources, and comparable sales.

  • Coordinate with the Photography and Inventory teams to track property movement through intake, cataloguing, and production.
  • Proofread and fact-check catalogue data for clarity, formatting, and completeness.
  • Assist with auction previews by engaging with clients and verifying display accuracy of lots.
  • Support auction-day operations, including bidder registration and phone/online bidding as assigned.
  • Participate in off-site cataloguing projects, collection intake, and promotional events as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Required background: Minimum 1–3 years of cataloguing, museum, personal property appraisal, or auction experience.
  • Strong general knowledge of fine and decorative arts, antiques, furniture. Knowledge and/or certification in jewelry and/or Asian arts a plus.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and research abilities, with attention to detail and consistency.
  • Proficiency in identifying materials, techniques, and stylistic periods across a variety of object categories.
  • USPAP certification preferred; ISA or ASA accreditation a plus; GIA certification a plus.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Collaborative and flexible approach to working with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and relevant auction or cataloguing software.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends during auction cycles.

Work Schedule & Conditions

  • Standard full-time schedule with flexibility for evenings and weekends during peak auction cycles.
  • Non-traditional work environment with high-intensity periods leading up to auctions.
  • Physical activity required, including standing for extended periods and handling items of varying size and weight (with assistance where appropriate).

How to Apply:

Please submit your resume, a cover letter detailing your experience and interest in the position, and any relevant certifications to [email protected].
