CFO / CONTROLLER

Construction industry experience required

Axis Construction LLC, a general contracting firm located in Alpharetta, GA, seeks an experienced hands-on self-starter with a strong construction accounting/financial management background to lead the financials of construction projects, including adhering to budgets, controlling costs and preparing financial reports.

This is a key role in maintaining the financial health of construction projects while supporting the overall success of the company’s operations.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, monitor, and update project budgets and forecasts, ensuring alignment with project timelines and objectives
• Establish realistic cost estimates and timelines through collaboration with project managers, engineers and other teams, track and analyze costs and identify potential cost overruns and strategies to mitigate financial risks
• Prepare detailed financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports for construction projects and provide regular updates to senior management
• Identify areas for cost savings and efficiency improvements
• Review and manage contracts with subcontractors, suppliers, and other third parties and monitor payment schedules, change orders, and contract amendments
• Manage cash flow for construction projects by coordinating payment schedules, invoicing, and tracking receipts
• Ensure compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations regarding financial reporting, tax filings, and construction contracts
• Other financial-related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• 8+ years’ experience in the construction industry as a Controller or in a similar financial management role
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Construction Management, or a related field (MBA or CPA preferred)
• Understanding of construction accounting principles and cost management practices
• Familiarity with construction contracts, project cost tracking and change order management
• Strong communication, organizational, analytical, problem solving, and PC skills including MS Office and construction accounting software proficiency (Procore, Viewpoint or similar)
• Attention to detail with the ability to work independently, communicate with vendors and all levels of staff, manage multiple projects, meet deadlines and work effectively within a team-oriented environment
• Self-directed with high ethical standards and work ethic
• Availability for occasional travel to construction sites
