Job Description

Our customer, a veterinary services healthcare company, is seeking a Dispute Resolution Attorney The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and resolving commercial legal disputes in both the pre-litigation and litigation contexts and across a variety of practice areas. The role requires strong legal analysis, business acumen, negotiation, and advocacy skills to efficiently handle cases and protect the organization’s interests.

Location: Austin, TX (prefer hybrid but open to remote candidates as well)

Duration: 3-6 months, part-time role

Hours: Estimate 20-25 hours per week

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with internal clients to evaluate claims and/or defenses in a variety of commercial contract disputes, including disputes arising under vendor contracts, Saas-related customer contracts, and leases.
  • Conduct legal research and risk analysis to determine and support dispute resolution strategy.
  • Represent the Company in pre-litigation settlement discussions and prepare the appropriate settlement documentation and/or work with the subject matter expert to amend the underlying agreements as necessary to reflect the commercial resolution.
  • Prepare legal documents such as pleadings, motions, briefs, and settlement agreements.
  • As necessary, handle preliminary phases of litigation, including pleadings, discover and motion practice and engage in dispute resolution (ADR) methods such as mediation and arbitration.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to the Texas bar and in good standing.
  • 3–7+ years of relevant legal experience in litigation and dispute resolution.
  • Strong legal writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Experience with arbitration and mediation.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Background in two of the following areas: commercial litigation, technology and commercial landlord/tenant matters
  • Experience working in an in-house legal department.

Preferred Experience

  • Background in data privacy and intellectual property.
  • Familiarity with e-discovery platforms and case management tools.
  • Investigations experience
  • Veterinary healthcare or human healthcare experience

Work Environment & Conditions:

  • May require occasional travel for court appearances, hearings, or settlement conferences.
