Middle & High School English Language Arts Teacher (6th-12th Grade)

Calling All Changemakers! Help Us Reimagine Education

Location: Humanex Academy, Englewood, CO

Start Date: August 5, 2025

Position: Full-Time | Small, Mixed-Age Classes | Neurodiversity-Affirming

Who We Are

Humanex Academy is not your traditional school—we do school differently . We are a neurodiversity-affirming , relationship-driven , and student-centered learning community for 6th-12th graders who thrive when education is built around their strengths, not their deficits . Our students include those diagnosed with ADHD, Autism, Anxiety, and a variety of learning disabilities—many of whom are Twice Exceptional (2e).

At Humanex, we:

  • Break from outdated education models, creating a neurodiversity-affirming environment.
  • Focus on real relationships, real learning, and real growth .
  • Build an environment where teachers are trusted professionals who bring creativity, flexibility, and student-driven thinking to the classroom.

If you’re an educator who questions the status quo, embraces innovation, and prioritizes relationships over rigid rules , we want you on our team.

Who You Are

You are not just an English teacher—you are:

  • A disruptor of outdated education practices.
  • An innovator who meets students where they are, while setting high expectations.
  • A relationship-first educator who sees neurodiversity as an asset, not a challenge.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Thinks outside the box when designing lessons for mixed-age, small-group classes (6-10 students).
  • Sees reading and writing as a gateway to communication and self-advocacy .
  • Knows engagement beats compliance —students should be excited to learn.
  • Thrives in a flexible, adaptive learning environment where no two days are the same.
  • Loves teaching the whole student , not just the subject matter.

How We Hire: A Different Kind of Process

We don’t just hire teachers—we build a team of innovators . Our hiring process ensures you’re a fit for our culture of educational disruption . Here’s what you can expect:

1️⃣ Application & Initial Screening – We look for educators whose philosophy aligns with ours.

2️⃣ Student-Centered Challenge – You’ll receive real student profiles and be asked to design a lesson or share how you’d meet their needs.

3️⃣ In-Person Experience – You’ll visit our school, meet staff, interact with students, and experience how we do school differently .

4️⃣ Educator Reflection – A final self-assessment where you evaluate your alignment with Humanex’s approach to education.

Qualifications & Preferred Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required; a Colorado teaching license or special education endorsement is preferred.
  • Experience working with neurodiverse students, Twice-Exceptional (2e) learners, and non-traditional education models is a huge plus.
  • A willingness to challenge traditional education norms and embrace a student-centered approach .
  • Strong collaboration and adaptability skills —we are a team of educators who support each other!
  • Tech-savvy and comfortable with differentiation, multimodal learning, and executive functioning support .

Why Join Humanex?

  • Salary: $48,000-$57,000 (based on credentials & experience) as well as health benefits & 401k matching.
  • Professional Growth: We invest in our teachers through PD and collaboration.
  • Supportive Team: You will be part of a school that trusts and empowers its educators.
  • Small Class Sizes: Teach 6-8 students per class in a relationship-focused environment.
  • Mission-Driven Work: Be part of an educational revolution where we redefine success.
