Job Summary

Insight Global’s client is seeking a technically inclined Junior Estimator to join their construction team. This role is ideal for individuals with a background in CAD, construction design, or engineering who are looking to transition into estimating. The Junior Estimator will support the preconstruction team by interpreting technical drawings, performing quantity takeoffs, and contributing to the development of competitive bids. This position offers a unique opportunity to blend technical drawing skills with construction knowledge while gaining exposure to the full project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret construction plans and technical documents to assist in building accurate concrete estimates
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for concrete, formwork, rebar, and labor components using both manual and digital tools
  • Support the preconstruction team in pricing, vendor coordination, and bid document management
  • Participate in site visits and pre-bid meetings as needed
  • Help build estimate templates and processes that integrate CAD-based data
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and senior estimators to improve accuracy and efficiency

Required Qualifications

  • Proficiency in CAD software with the ability to develop, read, and manipulate technical drawings
  • Working knowledge of construction plans, specifications, site logistics, estimating concepts, concrete construction methods, and cost factors
  • 2+ years of commercial construction experience
  • 1–2 years of experience in CAD drafting, estimating, or construction support
  • Ability to learn and utilize digital takeoff tools
  • Proficient in Excel and comfortable with data-driven tasks
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational abilities
  • Willingness to grow in a collaborative, learning-focused environment

Nice to Have

  • Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field
  • Estimation software experience with Bluebeam or similar.
  • Experience in construction or structural work.
