Lab Operations Manager – Philadelphia, PA

This position requires a highly organized and motivated individual to lead laboratory operations in a rapidly growing biotechnology company. The laboratory manager role is a multifunctional, hands-on position that requires a background in laboratory operations, facilities oversight, workload planning, and the ability to support a growing team. Experience with the monitoring and maintenance of lab equipment and working with associated vendors is a plus. Strong organizational and project management skills are required.

• Core Responsibilities: Act as the primary contact for phone communications into the lab, triaging as necessary.
• May be responsible for setting executive meetings with Executive Leadership and lab-related vendors, suppliers, and consultants.
• Support day-to-day operations of laboratory functions, assisting with maintenance requests, calibrations, and general upkeep of lab equipment.
• Support the President and Project Manager in updating the progress in lab operations in the project plan.
• Recommend and manage procurement of new lab equipment and supplies.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in laboratory processes and equipment with established vendors, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption to operations.
• Manage facilities maintenance through third-party vendors, monitoring the maintenance and repair of building systems (HVAC, structural, electrical, mechanical, controls, and various installed distribution systems).
• Plan facility improvements in collaboration with scientific staff to refine equipment layouts and storage strategies that meet immediate and long-term goals.
• Monitor laboratory inventory and coordinate the procurement of necessary supplies and equipment.
• Evaluate and manage service contracts for preventative maintenance and repairs with equipment vendors.
• Lead and/or support special projects, such as implementing new lab setups or exploring new testing methodologies to enhance laboratory capabilities and services.
• Develop and manage the laboratory budget, including procurement of equipment and supplies, ensuring fiscal responsibility.
• Organize and store electronic records.
