Job Description

Company :

David creates tools to increase muscle and decrease fat. Our first product is a protein bar. More broadly, David is a platform to develop high-protein, low-calorie, blood-sugar-friendly foods that are craveable.

This is a compelling opportunity to be a part of an exciting new food brand as we operate within a critical growth stage. David is led by CEO Peter Rahal, the Cofounder and Former CEO of RXBAR ($600M exit to Kellogg in 2017). We have strong aspirations to become the most popular high-protein bar in North America and beyond.

Role :

We’re looking for a Laboratory Technician to support product development and food science initiatives across our portfolio. You’ll play a critical role in the day-to-day operations of the lab, including preparing and organizing experiments, tracking data, and helping scale new food technologies.

This is a hands-on role. Most of your time will be spent in the lab preparing formulations, running tests, documenting results, and maintaining lab readiness. You’ll work closely with our R&D and Supply Chain teams to ensure high-quality execution and speed in innovation.

Responsibilities :

Benchtop Product Development:

  • Independently execute experiments, including ingredient weigh-up and product formation.
  • Provide accurate and detailed records of experimental outcomes. With the support of the R&D manager, interpret data from experiments and determine next steps.
  • Execute multiple work streams and project-related activities.

Data Collection:

  • Conduct laboratory tests and take measurements on benchtop prototypes to ensure optimal quality and taste.
  • Support weekly shelf life evaluation via sensory analysis to ensure in-market product meets quality standards.

Lab Management:

  • Ensure a clean and organized lab space to uphold a safe working environment. This includes cleaning, maintenance of workspace, and dishwashing.
  • Maintain a detailed inventory and updated stock of laboratory ingredients and equipment.

What you’ll bring :

Preferred but not required:

  • Familiarity with kitchen equipment including scales and mixers.
  • Experience with laboratory product development (food preferred).
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and standards (GMP, FDA).
  • Required:
  • High character and trustworthy.
  • Able and eager to learn how to operate equipment and contribute to product development.
  • The ability to operate independently while clearly communicating results to the rest of the team.
  • A self-starting attitude with a love for executing on ideas and moving quickly.
  • Humble, self-aware, and curious.
  • A desire to work for an early-stage CPG company with a mission to help people increase muscle and decrease fat.

Practicalities :

  • This is a full-time, in-office role based in New York City. We work onsite five days a week — when the culture fits, it is fun to be in the office together.
  • Salary: $50 - $70K per year
  • 100% covered Health, Vision, Dental Insurance.
  • 401(k) with 4% match.
  • Additional perks, such as covered gym expenses.
  • Substantial and required PTO.

Application Process :

  • Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis.
  • The target start date for this role is August 2025.
