Job Description

TITLE: LICENSED PSYCHOLOGIST / LICENSED CLINICIAN

LOCATION: GREAT NECK, NY

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: W2, FULL-TIME/ Hybrid

WHAT WE DO:

The Bio Behavioral Institute (BBI) is an outpatient Mental Health clinic; we specialize in treating OCD, BDD, and other complex disorders. At BBI, we’re more than just a clinic; we’re a movement for change. For over 45 years, we’ve pioneered the treatment of OCD, BDD, and anxiety-related disorders, earning a reputation as a thought leader in the space. Through cutting-edge research and personalized care, we’ve helped over 4,000 individuals lead richer, more fulfilling lives.

We’re not just here to reduce symptoms; we’re here to change lives. Our approach is grounded in evidence-based treatment, where every member of our team plays a part in transforming lives—one patient at a time.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

As a Licensed Psychologist, you will provide evidence-based care to individuals with OCD, anxiety, and related disorders. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, your role will include delivering individual, group, family, and couples therapy, as well as participating in our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Half your time will involve collaborating with a team of therapists to treat shared IOP patients. Much of the work occurs outside the office, guiding patients through real-world situations that trigger their symptoms and working through them in real time, which we believe leads to better outcomes.

At BBI we foster a safe, creative environment that encourages innovation to achieve patient outcomes. Beyond patient care, you’ll have the option to contribute to advancing the field by actively engaging in research to push evidence-based treatment forward.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct Individual and Group Therapy: Utilize evidence-based practices, such as CBT, ERP, DBT, ACT, CPT, and PE, to treat individuals with OCD, anxiety, and autism spectrum disorders.
  • Participate in the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP): Provide therapeutic interventions for higher-severity cases, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.
  • Comprehensive Patient Assessments: Perform diagnostic evaluations, develop treatment plans, and monitor progress over time.
  • Collaborate with Multidisciplinary Teams: Work alongside other clinicians and administrative staff to ensure coordinated care and optimal treatment outcomes.
  • Contribute to Program Development: Assist in refining and improving treatment protocols based on the latest research and clinical outcomes.
  • Mentorship and Supervision: Depending on experience, provide guidance and supervision to early-career clinicians or trainees.
  • Engage in Professional Development: Stay updated on the latest research and advancements in treating OCD and related disorders.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education: Doctorate in Psychology (Psy.D. or Ph.D.) from an accredited program. School psychologists with a doctoral degree and clinical experience are eligible.
  • Licensure: Must hold a current license to practice psychology in the state of New York. Multiple state licenses are a plus.
  • Clinical Experience: Demonstrated experience in treating OCD, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, or autism spectrum disorders using evidence-based methods.
  • Therapeutic Expertise: Familiarity with CBT, ERP, DBT, ACT, CPT, and PE, as evidenced by clinical work, publications, or conference presentations.
  • Interest in OCD and Related Disorders: Expressed dedication to treating OCD and associated conditions.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working with higher-severity populations.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to effectively engage with patients, families, and colleagues in a professional and empathetic manner.
  • Eagerness to embrace the BBI values:
  • Care Deeply
  • Stay Humble and Open
  • Get Results
  • Team Up
  • Be Creative and Flexible

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience with High-Acuity Patients: Background in hospitals, residential, or inpatient settings treating complex disorders such as eating disorders, personality disorders, or autism spectrum disorders.
  • Academic Contributions: Research, publications, or presentations related to OCD, anxiety, or other related disorders.
  • Connections to Academic Programs: Familiarity with training programs at Hofstra University and St. John’s University, reflecting alignment with our treatment philosophy.
  • Collaborative Spirit: Demonstrated ability to thrive in a team-oriented clinical environment.
  • Commitment to Evidence-Based Practice: Proficiency in implementing and adapting the latest research to clinical settings.

WHAT WE OFFER:
  • Unmatched Expertise: You’ll have the opportunity to learn directly from and collaborate with industry experts like Dr. Fugen Neziroglu and Dr. Sony Khemlani, known for their extensive research on OCD, anxiety, BDD, and related disorders.
  • Pioneers in OCD Treatment: Not just treating but looking to continue to push evidence based treatment forward through research and training. Working to develop the next generation of therapists.
  • Career Growth: Heavy focus on training here and expectation to be at the cutting edge of current therapeutic approach
  • Impact: With treatment you’ll be supporting many of these patients as they are able to re-enter and participate in their lives again. This is life changing work!
  • Culture: Because of our team IOP approach our culture is very collaborative. You are sharing these cases and approaching their treatment as a team. It allows you to develop deeper relationships with your peers leading to more support for you and real team environment
  • Benefits: 401k, Flexible time off; Medical and Vision Insurance
