Payroll Specialist

We are seeking a resolute Payroll Specialist professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to long-term career growth with a global manufacturer. This position is integral to the HR/Payroll team's efforts in implementing innovative technologies and processes to support the expanding employee base.

  • Location: Houston, Texas
  • Onsite - 5 days a week (Monday-Friday)
  • Salary: up to 85K - Direct Hire

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process Corporate payroll and other designated payrolls weekly and bi-weekly.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and documents in compliance with record retention laws.
  • Audit and reconcile files from UKG each pay period and annually as required.
  • Handle payroll inquiries and maintain professional communication with employees and managers.
  • Ensure payroll registration and state tax setup for out-of-state payrolls.
  • Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll reports as required by government agencies, providers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Update contribution changes, loan stops/starts, and provide support for 401K audits and reporting.
  • Understand and apply payroll actions in compliance with payday laws.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for payroll and timekeeping processes.
  • Create and maintain documentation of payroll practices and procedures in a payroll desk manual.

Experience and Requirements:

  • 4 years’ Payroll Specialist full-cycle payroll processing experience.
  • Experience with UKG (UltiPro) highly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High School Diploma or better.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification preferred.
  • Expertise in payroll laws and regulations at federal and state levels, or willingness to acquire.
  • Knowledge of garnishment regulations and priorities.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet strict deadlines, and maintain confidentiality of payroll records.
  • High level of independence and ability to thrive in a fast-paced payroll environment.
