Job Description

Surya is seeking a talented and experienced photographer with a strong eye for design and a portfolio that demonstrates a proven ability to produce captivating product and lifestyle photography. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume studio environment and be adept at leading all phases of a photoshoot—from concept development and set design to styling, execution, and post-production editing. The candidate must also be comfortable working in a warehouse environment, handling physical aspects of the role, and collaborating across departments.

This role offers an opportunity to exercise creativity and innovation, producing unique, eye-catching visuals for platforms such as catalogs, websites, and social media.

Key Responsibilities

  • Capture high-quality images of rugs and home accessories for various formats including product, eCommerce, room environments, and styled shots.
  • Collaborate with Product Development and cross-functional teams to meet deadlines and deliver projects within budget.
  • Lead and oversee photo shoots, ensuring proper placement of products, props, and lighting for consistency with Surya’s brand standards.
  • Participate in the full creative process, including styling, set building, and preparing merchandise.
  • Manage multiple sets concurrently, working with the head photographer and key stakeholders to translate creative direction and sketches into impactful visuals.
  • Edit images as required, including resizing, cropping, color correcting, and converting files to CMYK or RGB as needed.
  • Organize and manage digital assets efficiently, ensuring proper file naming conventions and metadata tagging for easy retrieval and collaboration.
  • Handle physical setup of cameras, products, and equipment during shoots.
  • Implement new photography techniques such as CGI, 3D modeling, and photogrammetry to capture unique visuals alongside traditional photography methods.
  • Collaborate to improve studio workflows, ensuring all processes are efficient, scalable, and utilize the latest photography tools and techniques.
  • Assist with additional company photography needs as requested.

Skills & Qualifications

  • A minimum of 4+ years of professional experience in commercial studio photography is required.
  • A strong background in home decor, interior design, or furniture photography is preferred.
  • Expert knowledge of lighting setups for product and interior photography is essential.
  • Proficiency in Capture One, Adobe Photoshop, and the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience in tethered shooting workflows for real-time review and adjustments.
  • Working experience with Canon cameras and lenses.
  • Experience with Digital Asset Management (DAM) systems, including organizing and maintaining a robust image library.
  • Highly organized and deadline-oriented with the ability to juggle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • A meticulous eye for detail and color accuracy, with experience in advanced color management techniques.
  • Ability to take direction well and collaborate within a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues quickly and efficiently.
