Job Description

Plant Manager – Manufacturing

We are seeking an experienced Plant Manager to lead operations at a large, complex manufacturing facility with 600+ employees. This role requires a proven track record in continuous line manufacturing, union labor relations, full P&L responsibility, and—above all else—a demonstrated commitment to building and sustaining a strong safety culture. The Plant Manager will report directly to the Director of Manufacturing and oversee a leadership team of 6–10 direct reports while driving performance across safety, quality, service, and cost.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and foster a culture of safety first, ensuring every employee goes home safe every day.
  • Manage all aspects of plant operations, ensuring achievement of KPI targets for safety, quality, waste reduction, productivity, and service.
  • Provide strong leadership for plant leadership team members and build organizational capability through coaching, succession planning, and talent development.
  • Oversee all human capital planning and labor relations, including union management, workforce engagement, and performance management.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements across safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Ensure robust process controls, manufacturing SOPs, and adherence to customer requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and foster a high-performance culture throughout the facility.
  • Lead annual budgeting, capital expenditure execution, and financial performance to deliver on the plant’s P&L objectives.
  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure best practice sharing, operational alignment, and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business administration, or related field required.
  • 10+ years of relevant manufacturing leadership experience, including at least 7 years in plant or operations management.
  • Must have continuous line manufacturing experience.
  • Must have union experience with proven success managing labor relations.
  • Must have full P&L leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated passion for safety and ability to lead a strong safety culture.
  • Experience leading in large-scale facilities (400+ employees) with high complexity.
  • Strong financial and business acumen with ability to interpret and act on plant results.
  • Proven track record in continuous improvement, Lean, or Six Sigma methodologies (Black Belt preferred).
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
