Job Title: Bakery Driver 

Company: Proof Bread, LLC 

Location: Proof Shea [3110 E Shea Blvd, Phoenix, AZ 85028] 

Position Type: Flex/PT (Mon/Tue/Wed) 

Compensation: $20/hour + tip share (an additional $2-$5/hour)

Job Summary: 

Proof Bread, a renowned artisanal bakery specializing in sourdough bread, is seeking a dedicated and professional Bakery Driver to play a crucial role in ensuring the timely and safe delivery of our bakery products to various locations. Drivers are responsible for maintaining the integrity of Proof products during transportation and providing excellent communication. The ideal candidate will have a passion for our brand, seek understanding of our processes and procedures, is self-driven, punctual, reliable, and able to work independently. This position reports to the Shea Bakery Manager and/or Operations Director. 

 

Key Responsibilities, include but are not limited to : 

 

Vehicle Maintenance  

• Operate and understand the unique requirements of each fleet vehicle 
• Conduct routine vehicle inspections and promptly report any maintenance issues 
• Keep the delivery vehicle clean, full of fuel, and well-maintained  

 

Product Delivery  

• Load, secure, and unload various bakery tools, products, and equipment 
• Safely and efficiently transport bakery products to locations following designated route 
• Ensure that all products are loaded securely and that temperature-sensitive items are safely stored to maintain freshness 
• Ensure that all products requiring nightly proofing are properly and accurately set 
• Maintain a delivery schedule and ensure on-time deliveries 
• Provide exceptional customer service with production staff during deliveries 
• Follow load manifests to ensure orders are accurate and complete 
• Maintain accurate delivery logs, including delivery times, mileage, and any issues encountered during deliveries 

 

Compliance and Safety  

• Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations, as well as company policies and procedures 
• Ensure compliance with food safety and handling guidelines 
• Address management and team inquiries and concerns professionally 

 

Qualifications: 

• Produce a valid ID and clean driving record 
• Produce a valid food handling certification 
• Previous experience as a delivery driver preferred
• Knowledge of local roads and routes is an asset
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Ability to lift and carry bakery products of various sizes and weights 
• Attention to detail and a commitment to safety 
• Flexible availability to work mornings, evenings and/or weekends 
• Availability to stay until all tasks are completed 
• Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently 
• Possess a strong sense of responsibility, communication, and dependability 
• Demonstrate effective teamwork and communication skills 
• Must be responsible and have proven ability to maintain scheduling commitments

 

Physical Requirements: 

• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects up to 100lbs occasionally 
• Ability to maneuver and move large shelves of product on wheels weighing approximately 400lbs 
• Ability to safely operate liftgate and various fleet vehicles 
• Ability to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods 
• Good vision and hearing for navigating traffic and communicating with customers 

 

Key Performance Indicators: 

• Product Delivery – Success of daily delivery (all items where they need to be); management and understanding of time sensitive deadlines and proactive problem-solving for issues that may delay timely completion of drop offs; ability to drive and deliver temperature sensitive, fragile objects through a variety of driving conditions utilizing a liftgate and/or ramp; completion of delivery logs and load manifests; daily shift communication using appropriate channels 
• Maintenance, Compliance and Safety – Completion of maintenance logs; timely reporting of issues; proactive vehicle checks; number of safety incidents reported
