Job Title: SQL/ PostgreSQL Developer

Location: Thousand Oaks, CA – Onsite 3 days a week

Duration: 6-12 months extendable

We are looking for an experienced Senior SQL Developer to join our software development team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in writing complex SQL queries and managing database-related operations. This role requires in-depth knowledge of SQL development, report generation, stored procedure creation, SQL script management, and data migration. As a Senior SQL Developer, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the database performance is optimized and scalable while supporting the product's data and reporting needs.

Qualifications:

• Experience: 12+ years of experience as an SQL Developer or in a similar role. 3+ yrs onsite exp in US is mandatory.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Expertise in SQL:
• Proficient in writing, optimizing, and troubleshooting complex SQL queries.
• Strong experience in designing stored procedures, views, and triggers.
• Extensive knowledge of database systems such as PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server.
• Data Migration Experience: Proven experience in planning and executing data migration projects.
• Report Generation: Hands-on experience with generating and optimizing reports using SQL and reporting tools.
• Performance Tuning: Experience with query performance tuning and database optimization techniques.
• Tools & Platforms: Familiarity with version control systems (Git), and experience with database tools such as SQL Management Studio, pgAdmin, or other similar tools.
• Scripting Knowledge: Proficient in managing and automating SQL scripts across environments.
• Experience with cloud-based databases (e.g., AWS RDS
• Familiarity with ETL processes and tools.
• Knowledge of NoSQL databases is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Complex SQL Query Development:

• Design and write complex SQL queries for data retrieval and reporting purposes.
• Optimize queries for performance and scalability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to SQL queries and database performance.

1. Report Generation:

• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand reporting requirements.
• Design and develop complex data reports using SQL queries and reporting tools.
• Generate ad-hoc reports to support business operations and decision-making.

1. SQL Script Management:

• Create, manage, and maintain SQL scripts for database operations.
• Ensure proper version control of SQL scripts across development and production environments.
• Write and document automated SQL scripts for database maintenance tasks.

1. Stored Procedure Development:

• Design, develop, and maintain complex stored procedures and functions.
• Ensure that stored procedures are optimized and meet performance requirements.
• Review and refactor existing stored procedures for efficiency.

1. Data Migration:

• Lead and execute data migration projects, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Plan and perform data imports, exports, and transformations between systems.
• Monitor and verify data integrity throughout the migration process.

1. Database Maintenance & Optimization:

• Perform regular database maintenance tasks, including indexing and performance tuning.
• Monitor database health and implement strategies for optimization.
• Work with DBAs to resolve performance and scalability issues.

1. Collaboration & Communication:

• Collaborate with product managers, software engineers, and business analysts to understand requirements and deliver data-driven solutions.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members on best practices for SQL development.
• Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
