Job Description

Genesis is looking for a marine estimator who has experience in both heavy/civil bridge construction and marine construction.

Operational Efficiency & Process Improvement

• Collaborate with project team on the development and implementation of efficient estimating processes and procedures
• Streamline take-off and estimation procedures

Financial Management & Risk Assessment

• Prepare detailed and accurate estimates of costs for construction projects
• Identify and mitigate potential risks and liabilities
• Lead bid reviews and presentations
• Prepare bid documents
• Prepare and communicate change order costs

Technology & Innovation

• Utilize estimating software and technology to improve efficiency and accuracy
• Stay up to date with industry developments and best practices

Compliance & Day-to-Day Operations

• Ensure compliance with company and industry standards for estimating
• Manage day-to-day estimating activities, including data entry and record-keeping
• Collaborate with project team to ensure alignment on project requirements and cost estimates
• Provide updated weekly status report to the project team on all assigned projects
• Willingness to travel to construction sites as necessary
• Other duties as assigned

Monitoring & Review

• Review project plans, specifications, and other documentation to understand the scope of work
• Analyze internal and external estimates for accuracy and completeness
• Request updated material pricing from multiple vendors

External Relations & Representation

• Communicate with project team and clients regarding estimates and project costs
• Represent the company in a professional and courteous manner

Culture & Talent Development

• Collaborate with other estimators and staff to share knowledge and best practices
• Mentor and train junior estimators
• Maintain a positive, professional, and respectful attitude in all interactions to foster a productive and collaborative work environment

Leadership & Strategy

• Collaborate with estimating teams on large projects

Requirements/Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in construction estimating or a related field
• Civil Bridge Construction and Marine Construction
• Proficient in estimating and accounting software
• Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to read and interpret project plans and specifications
• Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations
• Effective communication and collaboration skills
• Familiarity with construction project management software
• Strong understanding of construction contracts and agreements
• Excellent time management and prioritization skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
• Willingness to travel to project sites as necessary
• High school diploma or equivalent
