Regional General Manager – Building Automation & Services

A leading building automation and energy services provider is seeking a high-performing Regional General Manager to drive growth, profitability, and operational excellence across a multi-branch region. This role is ideal for a strategic leader with a deep understanding of building systems, service operations, and sales leadership. The position offers the opportunity to lead a talented team, manage P&L responsibilities, and build long-term relationships with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership:
  • Develop and execute sales and service strategies for assigned markets.
  • Establish growth and marketing plans in alignment with executive leadership.
  • Identify strategic customer opportunities and drive new business initiatives.
  • Build strong peer and client networks to strengthen market presence.
  • Operational Execution:
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of multiple branch offices, ensuring achievement of sales and profit goals.
  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team across service and sales functions.
  • Own the region’s P&L, budgeting, forecasting, and talent development.
  • Drive accountability for gross margin, backlog health, DSO, safety compliance, and operational KPIs.
  • Manage contract negotiations, change orders, and service-level agreements.
  • Technical & System Integration:
  • Lead technical understanding of system design and project/service delivery.
  • Guide pricing strategies for preventive maintenance and service contracts.
  • Champion use of enterprise systems (CRM, ERP, field service tools) to streamline operations.
  • Team Development & Culture:
  • Drive recruitment, development, and succession planning across the region.
  • Create a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high performance.
  • Deliver coaching and performance reviews to promote professional growth.
  • Relationship Management:
  • Foster strong relationships with customers, contractors, vendors, and community stakeholders.
  • Represent the company in local associations, customer events, and industry initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 7+ years of experience in building automation, HVAC, or construction industry.
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership or general management experience.
  • Proven ability to drive profitable growth and lead high-performing teams.
  • Strong business acumen, P&L management, and strategic planning skills.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Additional Details

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Travel required up to 25%.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Location and Compensation

This position will be based in Albany, NY. This is a full-time position that is available for immediate hire. A comprehensive compensation package will be developed for the successful candidate, which will include a base salary, a bonus plan, a car allowance or company vehicle, a 401 (k) with company match, and comprehensive healthcare benefits.
