Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented, hands-on Roofing Shop Manager to oversee daily operations in our roofing materials and fabrication shop. This role is critical in managing inventory, supervising shop staff, coordinating logistics, ensuring workplace safety, and supporting field operations to ensure timely delivery of high-quality roofing materials and components.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day shop operations, including scheduling, inventory control, and equipment maintenance
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate shop staff to ensure productivity and quality standards are met
  • Coordinate with project managers and field crews to prepare and deliver necessary roofing materials and tools
  • Maintain accurate records of materials, tools, and equipment usage
  • Oversee the fabrication and assembly of roofing components (e.g., metal flashing, coping, gutters)
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies
  • Order supplies and manage vendor relationships to maintain cost-effective inventory levels
  • Inspect finished goods for quality control before delivery
  • Assist in developing shop procedures to improve efficiency and safety
 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certifications in roofing, construction, or logistics a plus
  • 5+ years of experience in a roofing shop or construction-related management role
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with roofing systems, tools, and materials
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints or technical drawings
  • Basic computer skills (e.g., inventory software, email communication)
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain one preferred
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
 

Work Environment:

  • Shop and warehouse environment with some outdoor exposure
  • Frequent lifting (up to 50 lbs), standing, and manual labor
  • Occasional travel to job sites or vendor locations may be required
