Job Description

Hey there, we’re Stately!

We are building StatelyDB, a cloud-native document database with Elastic Schema. Our database helps developers build complex applications that can scale from startup to hyperscale, but with a schema that can change and evolve. We are at the exciting stage of building our product and need your help crafting features, building solid foundational infrastructure, scaling our operations and curating an awesome developer experience.

Our team is a small collaborative group of experienced industry veterans from companies like Amazon and Snap. We’re incredibly passionate about building the best product possible.

So, what about you?

We’re looking for an experienced Software Engineer who is intellectually curious, loves to learn and is a builder at heart. You have deep experience in a programming language of choice but you’re able to be effective in other languages when the need arises. You are a clear communicator and are resilient when work gets tricky. You’ve built something in the past that you’re really proud of. People trust your judgement.

As a Software Engineer at Stately you’ll have a huge impact. We are so early on our journey that you’ll have a direct influence on the future of the product, our mission and our company’s future success. We aren’t big enough yet to have different teams so you’ll report directly to our CTO and get hands-on experience with everything from our infrastructure to our core services to our client SDKs and beyond. Even though you’ve done impressive work in the past, you’ll grow more here than anywhere else in your career.

Core Responsibilities :

  • Implement our core product, a database built on top of DynamoDB with an elastic schema, using Go.
  • Build SDKs, code generators, CLI tools, and a web console using a variety of different languages.
  • Build all the assorted internal tools and systems involved with running a software project, and operate it all in production. We don’t have separate roles for DevOps, QA, SRE, so you’ll own everything end to end.
  • Document and communicate quickly evolving engineering decisions.

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related technical field or equivalent work experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of non-intern of professional software development experience, ideally in an area of distributed systems, backend services or cloud infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated strength in at least one programming language and openness to learning new ones.
  • Experience with service-oriented architecture and distributed systems.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases like DynamoDB or MongoDB. Ideally also experienced in relational databases like Postgres or MySQL.
  • Experience with Protocol Buffers (Protobuf) or gRPC.
  • Knowledgeable in either AWS or GCP cloud ecosystems.
  • Self-directed and able to work independently, but also enjoys collaborating with others.
  • Excellent written communication.
  • Values a collaborative and engaging work environment.
  • Desire to contribute to a vibrant and inclusive work environment.

Sound like we could be a match but you’re concerned you might not satisfy 100% of the points above? Apply anyway.

Salary range : $180,000 - $220,000 annually, depending on experience.

What We Provide:

  • Competitive compensation and stock options.
  • Medical, dental and vision for employees and dependents.
  • 401k plan.
  • Flexible time off.
  • Hybrid work environment with a Seattle home base.

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of application. Stately Cloud does not sponsor employment visas, such as H-1B or OPT, at this time.

Equal Opportunity Employer: Stately Cloud is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, status as a veteran, and basis of disability or any other federal, state or local protected class.
