This is a remote role; however, preference will be given to candidates located in Birmingham, Alabama, or the surrounding area who are willing to attend quarterly in-person collaboration opportunities

The Transaction Tax Accountant position is responsible for the determination and filing of use tax liability across the SCA portfolio. This position will be the primary driver of month end close responsibility including working with 3 rd party compliance providers. This will also include heavy data analytics on a compressed timeline. This person must have superb organizational skills with strong analytical, research and problem-solving skills. They must be able to work independently and efficiently with acute attention to detail. This position may also be responsible for ensuring Centers are registered for the appropriate taxes when legally owned by SCA or handling notices from the State. They will also have responsibility with data analytics review related to sales/use tax and other responsibilities as needed.

Position Responsibilities

• Sales & Use
  • Partner with Tax Accountants & Senior Tax Accountant to analyze and/or review capital acquisitions and supply purchases monthly
  • Maintain sales/use tax registrations and/or Notices
  • Assist with timely return reviews prepared by engaged vendor (KPMG)
  • Prepare reconciliations, journal entries and other analysis to support tax accruals
• Assist in Transaction Tax audits and related correspondence as needed
• Assist in other special projects and process improvements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred
• 4 years of transaction tax compliance experience preferred
• Experience in healthcare industry preferred
• Expert in Microsoft applications
• PeopleSoft experience preferred
• Vertex tax calculation software a plus
