Traffic Warehouse Manager

 

 

Location: Seville, OH

Department: Shipping/Receiving

Reports To: Director of Distribution

FLSA Status: Full Time Non-Exempt

The Traffic Manager manages Domestic and International shipping operations daily activities, including order processing, documentation, and transportation oversight. Monitors inventory levels to ensure sufficient levels are available to fulfill orders. Ensure that all required paperwork, including labels, packing list, and transport instructions is prepared. Ensures that all regulatory requirements for hazardous materials (DOT/HAZMAT) are met. Utilizes the ERP systems to record and track all shipping transactions, analyze performance metrics, and generate reports.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Oversee Domestic and International shipping.
  • Develops and maintains transportation and distribution procedures to maximize efficiency.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, and vendors.
  • Coordinates with customers on customer portals and internally with operations, sales, and finance.
  • Closely monitors On-time / In-full shipping performance
  • Manages budget by reviewing the vendor rate sheet for accuracy.
  • Selects appropriate delivery methods to minimize delivery costs and maximize customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledgeable about vendor requirements; reviews vendor agreements and ensures everything is up to vendor standards.
  • Stays current on shipping regulations and trains current staff on changes as needed.
  • Troubleshoots shipping delays or changes with carriers and communicates to customers.
  • Investigates and resolves shipping non-conformance.
  • Investigates, analyzes, and resolves shipping quality issues, damages, or lost freight claims.
  • Works directly with customer service and customers to review/remedy fines
  • Manages direct reports and workload.
  • Responsible for employee relations, promoting a positive culture and improving employee morale.
  • Follows all company health, safety, and compliance regulations.
  • Other duties as needed.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

  • Knowledge of domestic and international import/export regulations
  • Experience with Transportation Management Systems
  • Experience creating Standard Operating Procedures for each position in department and Customers

 

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • NetSuite
  • SPS Commerce
  • Experience with Amazon / ecommerce distribution

Physical Demands:

 

While performing this job's duties, the employee is regularly required to sit and use their hands. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, as well as lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Required to see and observe small handwriting, labels, and components.

Required to operate heavy machinery, including forklifts.

The position requires the employee to be on-site during scheduled shift to perform.

 

Work Environment:

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to a non-temperature-controlled environment and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

 

Required Education and Experience:

 

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Experience in high-paced retail distribution environment
  • 10-20 years of experience in a domestic and international shipping role
  • 10 years of supervisory experience
