Job Description

Johnson Service Group, a nationally award-winning staffing firm, has an immediate opportunity for a customer service billing representative for a local water district.
Contract | Onsite | $27.00 – 29.00 per hour depending on qualifications.
Summary: This role provides customer support by phone, email, and in person for all water service needs. Responsibilities include helping customers start or stop water service, addressing meter leaks and pressure concerns, and assisting with payment and billing issues. The position ensures clear communication and timely resolution of customer inquiries.
Responsibilities
Greet and assist visitors at the front counter; answer incoming calls and route them to the appropriate department or staff member.
Respond to customer inquiries related to services, accounts, or billing through phone, email, and in-person interactions.
Process payments received by mail, online, and in person; balance daily receipts and prepare bank deposits.
Research and resolve customer concerns or account discrepancies with accuracy and professionalism.
Maintain customer records and service requests in the billing or database system.
Support field and administrative staff by providing account or service-related information.
Explain district policies and procedures to customers in a courteous and clear manner.
Perform general office tasks such as filing, data entry, and recordkeeping.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
At least one year of customer service or clerical/accounting experience in an office environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities.
Proficiency with basic computer applications (email, databases, spreadsheets).
Experience in a public agency or utility environment preferred but not required.
