Job Description

The LHH is seeking a Safety Director for a Direct Hire, Permanent Placement position with a construction services client located in Indianapolis, IN. This is a unique opportunity to join a nationally recognized organization that is known for its commitment to safety, innovation, and operational excellence. The company has grown significantly over the past three decades and continues to expand its footprint across the U.S. In this role, you will lead a team of EHS professionals, oversee safety programs across multiple job sites, and drive a culture of safety throughout the organization. The compensation is commensurate to experience and will range between $110-125K per year plus bonus and includes comprehensive benefit and insurance plans, generous Paid Time Off, and a 401K plan with a company match.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the development and execution of company-wide safety programs and policies
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and industry-specific safety regulations
  • Conduct risk assessments for installation projects and implement mitigation strategies
  • Oversee safety documentation, manuals, and regulatory reporting
  • Manage OSHA logs and year-end compliance submissions
  • Lead investigations of incidents, injuries, and near misses
  • Supervise and mentor a team of on-site EHS professionals
  • Deliver safety training and certification programs (e.g., aerial lifts, forklifts)
  • Provide onboarding safety instruction for all new hires
  • Collaborate with project managers and field supervisors to integrate safety into operations
  • Serve as the primary contact for audits, inspections, and external safety agencies
  • Support offsite employees and travel to job sites as needed (approx. 10%)
  • Manage workers’ compensation and vehicle incident claims
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through leadership training and engagement
  • Maintain and improve safety performance metrics and KPIs

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor Degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Safety Management, or Construction is highly preferred
  • Minimum of 5+ years of safety experience within the construction industry is required
  • Must have the ability to lead safety programs across multiple job sites and teams
  • Must possess OSHA 300 Certification with a preference toward already being certified for OSHA 500
  • Must have experience with OSHA compliance, incident investigation, and regulatory reporting
  • Ideal candidates will have experience with Avetta or ISN platforms
  • Ideal candidates will have the ability to train and certify staff for equipment and worksite safety
  • Ideal candidates will have experience with CO2 monitoring
  • Strong organizational and communication skills are essential
  • Ability to manage documentation and lead a growing safety team
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred
