An innovative, stealth-mode biotech startup is leveraging cutting-edge genetic medicine to engineer cures for human diseases. By modifying and controlling multiple genes at the DNA, RNA, and protein levels in vivo, we aim to develop transformative treatments for common diseases affecting large patient populations. We foster a vibrant, collaborative work environment where team members can contribute to meaningful science while bringing their whole selves to work. We are seeking highly motivated, creative individuals to join our growing team.
About the Role
As a Senior Research Associate in the Molecular Biology Group, you will play a key role in advancing our genetic medicine technologies, supporting the discovery and development of new therapeutics. You will collaborate with a diverse team of cell biologists, protein and RNA engineers, computational scientists, molecular biologists, and translational biologists to:
· Develop SOPs to complete high-throughput arrayed molecular cloning and plasmid preparation projects.
· Utilize laboratory instrumentation that includes colony pickers, Agilent Bravos and Integra VIAFLOs to increase throughput.
· Identify, engage, and manage the relationship with CROs to efficiently track and manage components across multiple concurrent projects.
· Participate in exciting science by collaborating with team members across functions and by understanding expectations and deliverables for each experiment.
Requirements:
· A Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Bioengineering or a related field with a minimum of 4-5 years of laboratory experience in independent experimental design.
· Proficiency with high-throughput molecular cloning, using assembly modalities like Gibson assembly, ligation, site-directed mutagenesis, and Golden Gate assembly.
· Proficiency with nucleic acid extraction and purification, including high-throughput 96-well plasmid minipreps.
· In-depth understanding of underlying molecular biology/biochemical concepts.
· Creative thinking and a track record of high-quality data generation.
· Strong understanding of laboratory and molecular biology best practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience using high-throughput workflows and laboratory automation including Agilent Bravo and Integra VIAFLO instruments.
· 3+ years of industry laboratory experience.
· Experience using LIMS, Benchling, or similar tools for managing samples and data from high-throughput experiments.
· Competency in processing and analyzing experimental data.
· Strong knowledge of in silico molecular biology and data presentation software such as Geneious Prime, SnapGene and GraphPad Prism.
