Role Description
This position provides supervised short-term, once-weekly individual counseling to adult clients receiving psychotherapy services at the private practice of Michele Frances Purvin, LCSW-S, LCDC, LLC at 136 E. San Antonio Street, Suite 104, San Marcos, Texas 78666.
• Candidates must have a supervision contract and a Clinical Supervision Plan on file with a Texas Board of Social Work Examiners board-approved Clinical Supervisor. The candidate is currently working to complete all required clinical supervision hours. Current Texas license and independent malpractice insurance is required. Referrals are dependent on the supervisor’s discretion, your scope of practice and insurance contracts.
• Candidates must have outstanding communication skills, be personable and establish a nurturing rapport with clients, while simultaneously maintaining ethical boundaries
• Candidates must demonstrate professional boundaries and flexibility and enjoy working independently but be willing to collaborate and take direction.
• Candidates should be self-driven, professional and a team player.
Responsibilties:
• Provide weekly, individual counseling services to adult clients in a confidential office setting or online via a confidential, HIPPA approved plaform.
• Participation in weekly or bi-monthly group or individual supervision with board-approved clinical superisor.
• Delivery of treatment services; including phone screening, intake, assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning; individual adult counsling.
• Develop with each assigned client an individualized treatment plan based on the needs of the client identified in the social history and assessment within time constraints allowed by licensure
or contractual standards.
• Prepare and update treatment plan reviews within time constraints allowed by licensure or contractual stanards.
• Provide discharge planning and referral services for the client within time constraints allowed by licensure or contractual stanards.
• Complete assessments, progress notes, treatment plans, discharge summaries, and other practice reports in a manner that follows the social work ethical standards
of practice.
• Actively assists with the detection and prevention of client sucide.
• Maintain all continuing education requirements for re-licensure or testing
preparation.
• Additional duties as assigned in accordance with professional performance and develpment.
Education and Experence:
• Master’s Degree in social work required.
• 1+ years’ experience working in a mental health field prefered.
• Must be currently be licensed in the
state of Texas.
• Experience working in a substance abuse, eating disorder or detox a plus.
• Flexibility in work arrangements; you may be asked to perform the same task for
an exended period or to perform different tasks on the same day.
• Strong communication skills.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office, EHR (Electronic Health Record) software aplus.
• Bilingual counseling experience is prefered.
• Knowledge of modern counseling practices and methods, specifically with re
gard o the developmental issues of college students.
• Knowledge of and adherence to existing professional ethical standards.
• Knowledge of relevant regional, state and federal stautes.
• Ability to form and maintain effective counseling relationships, to monitor moments in the therapy process, and make appropriate referrals when necessary.
• Ability to plan, implement, evaluate, and report activties.
• Ability to provide counseling services to diverse populations including international
students, non-traditional students, elderly and vetrans.
• Able to establish priorities and multi-task to meet deadines.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Effective organizational and program development skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency using computer applications.
Working Condiions:
• Work around standard office equipment and conditons.
• Expected to work some evening and weekends.
